It looks very nice. In Mrs. Mitchell's room the children had a party to celebrate cele-brate Sandra's birthday. They lit candles on a cupcake' and Sandra made a rush and blew them out. Reporters, Ellen Thompson and LaRae Shelton Sixth Grade In Mr. Blaine's room we chose some poppy posters to enter in the national contest. The class chose the posters by vote. We chose posters made by Glade Knight, John Allred, Carl Larson and Judy Ann Pitt. We' chose them because they were different from the others and had good themes. Our sixth grade has an aquarium aquar-ium which contains seven grown guppies and one' baby fish. We hope that we will have more fish when school is out. Baby guppies are born alive. Baby guppies were born in our aquarium once, but they all died except two. In our language class Friday, we wrote poems. Here are some of our poems: BABY BROTHER I have a baby brother; I love him more than any other. I like to watch him play, And hear the things he tries to say. He is so very sweet, To tend him is a treat. Nancy Redmond AIRPLANE STEWARDESS Some day I'm going to be' a stewardess, Like our neighbor girl, Jane. She only lives a little way Only down the lane. She says it's fun, So, I want to be one. Some day I'll ride' in an airplane Then I'll fly over the state of Maine. Ellen Thompson THE RIVER I wonder where the river goes Lapping around and around my toes. Maybe it empties mio a iaKe, Wending around like a long, long snake. I wonder if it becomes a waterfall, Down, down over rocks so tall? I wonder where the river- goes? I wonder, too, if someone knows? John Allred FISHIE, FISHIE Fishie, fishie in the brook, Hiding in a deep down nook; Deep, deep down he makes a sign, He can see my hook and line. Another big fish not so smart Sees my worm and makes a dart. Now I have a big, big fish. He is cooked and in my dish. Kent Memmott BUTTERFLY I saw a pretty butterfly Up in the great blue sky. It flew around Like' it had found A million dollars in gold. Carole Fenn A LITTLE MOUSE I'd like a little mouse; I've always wanted one. I think they are so cute The way they wiggle when they run. The fat ones are the funniest, 'Cause they can hardly run. I still don't see the reason Mother won't let me have one. Jimmy Lerdahl Reported by Judy Ann Pitt (Crowded out Last Week) ROOSEVELT ELEMENTARY Kindergarten Keith Burdick's mother came and took a moving picture of us while we were having our "show and tell." We have some very attractive at-tractive posters started. We will finish them next week.
