Show A. Hale Holgate Gains High Scouting Citation GETS SILVER BEAVER A. Hale Holgate, president of the Duchesne LDS stake, Friday became be-came the fifth Basin man to receive re-ceive Silver Beaver Scouting Award. ' A. Hale Holgate, Duchesne stake president, became the fifth man in the Uintah Basin to be honored by the Utah National Parks Council Coun-cil with a Silver Beaver award last Friday at the Annual Council Fellowship in Provo. Given by the Utah National Parks Council for outstanding ser vice to boyhood, the Silver Beaver award is the highest award given by the local Council for service. Harold Lundell, Vernal, received the award in 1936; Willard A. Day, Roosevelt, in 1946; Linford Max-field, Max-field, Altonah, in 1948; and Paul Murphy, Roosevelt, in 1952. President Holgate was formerly scoutmaster of Arcadia, Troop 259. Later he was a member of the Duchesne District Committee. He has continuously made the best men with leadership for directing boys available to Scouting through his position as Duchesne stake president. He actively supported the 1955 High Uinta Scout Camp. (Continued from page one) business capacity has served as president of the Uteland Ditch Co since 1939, Duchesne County Weed Supervisor since 1947, Crop Improvement Im-provement Supervisor since 1948, Uintah Basin Agricultural Inspector Inspec-tor since 1949, vice-chairman of the Duchesne' County Water Board since 1949, member of the Roosevelt Roose-velt Hospital board since 1950, and member of the Duchesne Health Center committee since 1954. In church assignments, he was for three years stake Sunday School superintendent, Bishop of the Arcadia ward for seven years, member of the Duchesne stake High Council for four years, and since Feb. 28, 1949, president of the Duchesne stake. President Holgate was one of 9 men honored with the Silver Beaver award at the Council. Annual An-nual Fellowship in Provo, April 20, before a crowd of 650 people from all over the State of Utah. |
