Show LeetonBexinett Fern Houston A Bear Story Easter Sunday' the' girls of this area went on an Easter picnic, east of the Todd Dugway. There are small caves in the rocky hillside hill-side and while playing they saw what they thought was a bear. They were laughed at as there are no bears here only in stories. They kept on telling that they saw a bear until Gary Hall and Shorty Springer decided to find out what they saw, so Thursday they went exploring and sure enough they found just what they were looking for, a bear. They went back home and got Mr. and' Mrs. Lester Taylor, some ropes and things they might need and went back. They roped it with two ropes and the little fellow put up quite a fight, but no one was hurt. They took it to Buzz Larsen's gas station and it was the one' that had been turned out of its pen last fall, by some onlookers on-lookers at the station, where he had two in a pen. Before catching him they fed the bear and it went into the' cave, which made it harder to capture. Mr. and Mrs. Verl Haslem visited vis-ited over the weekend here. Mrs. Haslem is going to remain in Roosevelt for some' time, helping at the Commercial Bank, and Verle is going back to Orem. Mr. and Mrs. Winfred Long and two daughters visited with Lowell D. Long at the Mission Home in Salt Lake on Wednesday. Lowell left for his headquarters in Minneapolis, Min-neapolis, Minn. Thursday evening. They visited in Orem with relatives rela-tives Thursday before returning home. Mr. and Mrs. Clair Haslem and son, Wayne, spent Friday evening visiting at the Von Haslem home, and saw the Gene Fullmer - Tiger Jones fight on television. Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Houston visited vis-ited Thursday in Provo. Lynn Haslem and Joe Hunt, Lynn's father-in-law, flew to the Roosevelt Airport Friday and made a visit with Mrs. John Haslem for several hours and then returned to Blanding. Beverly Long visited overnight with her cousin, Margie Gardner at Ballard. Gary Hall is on crutches this week on account of the tussel he had with the bear. His foot was bitten, but he says it was fun catching a live bear. |
