Show Thirty-nine Scout Leaders Attend Fellowship Dinner "Scouting is an important factor in the life of a boy, because' it bridges the gap between Sunday religion and the everyday life of a boy," stated Elder Delbert L. Stapley of the Council of Twelve, LDS church, to a crowd of 650 at the Annual Council Fellowship in Provo. Thirty-nine people from the Uintah Uin-tah Basin participated in the Annual An-nual Utah National Parks Council Fellowship last Friday, April. 20, in Provo. Over 650 scouters from all over the the State of Utah attended at-tended the gathering. Highlight of the evening for the representatives of the' Basin was when President A. Hale Holgate, Arcadia, was awarded the Silver Beaver award, highest award given giv-en by the' local Council for service to boyhood. . Included in a list of six challenges chal-lenges to the leaders of the Utah National Parks Council, Elder Stapley stressed Boys' Life magazine, maga-zine, available to every boy, units LU gCL tJQ KJl LI1CI1 lllCIllUtJia 11131 I class or above, establishing the "Onward for God and Country Program" in the heart of every boy, longer tenure' for leaders, and making scouting a rich spiritual, experience for every boy. Duchesne District had the largest larg-est delegation this year with 16 present. Roosevelt had 10; Uintah, 8; and Moon Lake District five. Mr. and Mrs. Elvin O. Barker, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Defa, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Wilcken, Mr. and Mrs. R. Newell Carter, Mr. and Mrs. Rowan C. Stutz, Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Moon, President and Mrs. Hale Holgate, Earl Jordan and Mrs. Betty Evans represented the Duchesne Scout District at the Fellowship. Glen Mohlman, Grant Peel, Wil-lian Wil-lian R. Evans, Doyle Swallow and Fay Miles were present from the Moon Lake District. James E. Bacon, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Murphy, Mr. and Mrs. Spencer Spen-cer Squire, Mr. and' Mrs. Wilmer Murray, Mr. and Mrs. Rulon Dean Skinner and Robert S. Murdock represented the Roosevelt District. Those present from Vernal were: Mr. and Mrs. S. Woodrow White, Mr. and Mrs. LaRell Anderson, Mr. and Mrs. Jack F. Dexter and Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Pope. 1 |
