Miss JoAnn Angus has sufficiently suf-ficiently recovered from her last illness to be able to attend church gatherings. Mrs. Ardis Kettle presented the literature lesson in Relief Society on Tuesday, April 17. On Tuesday, Tues-day, May 1, the theology lesson will be presented by Mrs. Eunice Cook. Mrs. Ole Rasmussen accompanied accompan-ied her brother, Presley Timothy to Salt Like City, last Wednesday to see her son, Norman, as he left there for hi6 LDS mission in California. While Boyd' and Ferris Winn made their recent trip to Phoenix, Arizona,' they visited with Gary Gardner, who is laboring as an LDS missionary at San Carlos, Arizona. Mr. and Mrs. Junior Betts and two sons made a trip to Salt Lake City on Thursday, returning the same day. Mrs. Wesley Ercanbrack was away for a while visiting with her sister. Mrs. Ercanbrack is still using crutches from the accident she suffered in the winter. Mr. and Mrs. Wilmer Parrish and sons went to Rangely, Colo. Tuesday to visit Mr. Parrish's brother and family, who live' there. Mrs. Earl McKenna and small son, of Provo, spent the past week visiting her parents Mr. and Mrs. Russel Todd at Randlett, also at the Wendell Johnson and Max Todd homes. Mr. and Mrs.. Duane Noble and family and Mrs. Ivo See'ley, of Salt Lake City, were visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Farrell Rasmussen one day last week. They had come out to attend funeral services at Vernal for Horace Colthorp. School Held Half Day For Pre-School Group All. first grade students had a vacation last Thursday, while the pre-school children had a chance to come to school for a half day. Six of the mothers and their children child-ren enjoyed lunch in the school lunch room. Larry Norton, son of Mr. and Mrs. Kine Hatch, had the misfortune mis-fortune to be thrown from a horse one day last week and was unable to be to school for a few days. Mr. and Mrs. Martin Chandler of Salt Lake' City have been recent re-cent visitors at the home of Mrs. "Tex" Ross. Mrs. Jack Allred who has been staying with her mother Mrs. Ethel Bowden at Vernal, since her recent illness, has returned home. Dr. R. V. Larson, Mrs. Marvin Kettle and Calvin Squire were speakers in Sacrament meeting on Sunday evening, April 15. BLAZERS ENTERTAIN PARENTS AT PARTY The Blazer class in Primary entertained en-tertained their parents at a party last Tuesday. They presented a program, played games and served ser-ved refreshments. Mrs. Virgia Page' was in charge. Max Todd was a substitute mail driver on Saturday. Mr. and' Mrs. Earl Gillispie and two children of Loma, Calif, spent last weekend at the home of Mrs. Gillispie's parents, Mr. and Mrs. 'Jesse Butcher. Mr. and Mrs. Arlo McDaniels went to Salt Lake' City Monday, April 16 on a business trip. They also visited Mr. McDaniels' parents par-ents at Tooele. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Broderick and family of Salt Lake City spent the weekend with Mrs. Broderick's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Farrell Rasmussen. Ras-mussen. Elton Kettle was sustained as second assistant to Fred Cook in the Sunday School superinten-dency superinten-dency on Sunday. Mrs. Ald'en White was sustained as a teacher. Miss LaRee Bywate'r of Myton was a dinner guest at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Gareth Anderson on Thursday. Glen Oldroyd, A. A. Call and Helen Stevens, the school nurse, all of Vernal, visited the Alterra school on Thursday. FRIDAY DANCE SUCCESSFUL A dance was held at Alterra on Friday evening with a good crowd in attendance. The Smith orchestra orches-tra furnished the music, and refreshments re-freshments were sold. The upholstering class which was to be held at Ballard this week by Mrs. Jesie Eller, has been cancelled because of so few being be-ing able to attend it. Mr. and Mrs.. Donald Birche'll and Mrs. Charles Hadlock of Vernal, Ver-nal, visited with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Birchell, one day last week. JAMES MANGUM ENTERS SERVICE Mrs. Squire Mangum took her son, James, to Salt Lake City Monday, April 16, and he left on Wednesday after enlisting in the ' service. He is now stationed at ' Parks Air Base, near Oakland, Calif. Mr. and Mrs. Milton Brisbin, of Cortez, Colo., visited with their son and daughter-in-law and family, fam-ily, the Bill Brisbins, this past week. Garth Forgerson of Provo spent the past weekend at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Gareth Anderson. Officers and teachers of Sunday School were well represented at the Sunday School stake preparation prepar-ation meeting held in Roosevelt Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bingham, and Mrs. Keith Snyder and three of her children of Salt Lake City spent the weekend at the home of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bingham. - Miss Beverly Long of Bennett, was a weekend guest of Margie Gardner. Bishop and Mrs. Golden Collins and two of their children spent the weekend in Ogden visiting their two children, Boyd and Gay. ATTEND SCOUT MEET AT PROVO FRIDAY Mr. and MAs. Spencer Squire from Ballard, accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Rulon Skinner, Paul Murphy, James Bacon and Mr. and Mrs. ' Wilmer Murray of Myton, My-ton, attended a big Scout banquet ban-quet at Provt on Friday evening, April 20. Apostle Delbert Stapley of Salt Lake City was the guest speaker. Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Butcher and family of Roosevelt, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Gillispie and family of Colorado, Colo-rado, and Mr. and Mrs. Otis Butcher enjoyed a ge't-to-gether on Saturday evening, April 21 at the home of their parents The Jesse Butchers. Mrs. Kenneth Sprouse, Mrs. Zel-la Zel-la McGe'e and Mr. and Mrs. Arlo McDaniels enjoyed Sunday dinner with Mr. Sprouse, who is at present pres-ent working at the power plant in Uinta Canyon. The MIA of Whiterocks ward presented a play at Ballard Tuesday Tues-day evening, which was enjoyed by those there. We are very pleased to learn that Mrs. Effie Winn is very much improved from her recent illness. "BUZZ'S" BEAR CAUGHT The bear that disappeared from "Buzz" Larsen's cage in October, was seen by a group on an Easter hike the 1st of April. During the week it was captured and returned to Mr. Larsen. Mrs. Russel Todd and Mrs. Earl McKenna and baby went to Bluebell Blue-bell on Thursday to visit Mrs. Howard Todd and two small sons. Mrs. Ronald Batty, the former Nila Haslem of Ballard, now of Salt Lake City, left last week to meet her husband who has been laboring as an LDS missionary in Mexico. |
