Show ppa SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASS ATTENDS DRIVE-IN Boys and girls in Rex Curry's Sunday School class held a drive-in drive-in theatre party at the Basin Drive-In last Friday night, chaperoned chap-eroned by their leader. Each took his own lunch and enjoyed the festivity very much. Dr. and Mrs. Calvin Kowallis attended at-tended the annual convention for the Utah Optometric Association last Saturday, Sunday and Monday Mon-day in Brighton. Mrs. Kowallis was elected first vice-president for the Association's Auxiliary. While at the convention their children stayed with Mr. Kowallis' Kowal-lis' sister, Mrs. A. Boyd Hansen, in Salt Lake City, who returned to Roosevelt with them for a week' visit. Weekend visitors at the John Swe'nson residence were Mrs. Swepson's motjher,'. Mrs-. Zelma Beardall, and son, Paul. i Miss Gwennita Curry, USAC student at Logan, spent the weekend week-end home with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Rex Curry. Tony Lemieux and John Chasel left last Sunday to attend a Sinclair Sin-clair convention in Denver. They plan to return today, Thursday. Presley Timothy made a business busi-ness trip to Pueblo this week. Mrs. Ve'rlin Labrum accompanied accompan-ied Mrs. Ruel Ed'rington to Salt Lake City last Wednesday to attend at-tend the funeral services of the latter's mother, Mrs. Laura Robinson. Robin-son. Mrs. Labrum visited with her mother, Mrs. Walter J. Wood of Driggs, Idaho, who also attended the services. Welcome visitors in Roosevelt Monday were Mr. and Mrs. Garth Tietjen and two children, Renae and Estelle of Kanab, former Roosevelt Roos-evelt residents. They' left their 7-months-old son in Salt Lake City for the day. The' Tietjens enjoyed visiting with their former neighbors neigh-bors and' friends while here to attend at-tend the graveside services of Mrs. Tietken's grandmother. Mr. and Mrs. Theo Phillips, Evans Phillips and Mrs. Ted Phillips Phil-lips attended the funeral services for Mr. Phillips brother, Gomer, at Springville, Thursday, April 19. Mr. and Mrs. Kelly Redmond of Price', formerly of Roosevelt, were local visitors Sunday. The E. A. Calls have bought the Redmond home here. Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Brady (nee Ruth Burr) are the proud parents ,of a baby girl, born Friday, Fri-day, April 13. "Becky" is the new arrival's name and she weighed 7 lbs. 1 oz. Elated grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Clifton Burr of Sandy, former Roosevelt residents. Dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John B. Gale Sund-day Sund-day were Mr. and Mrs. James Lewis and family. Also visitors at the' Gale home were Mr. and Mrs. Joe Turner of Royal. Mrs. Wm. H. Ruppel, Jr. spent last Saturday .and Sunday in Salt Lake City visiting with her daughter, daugh-ter, Mrs. Marvin Stewart, who is receiving medical treatment. Mr. and Mrs. Sam Weiss returned re-turned home' Friday after visiting their son, Dick, University student, who underwent an appendectomy last week. He is recovering rapidly rapid-ly from the operation. Mrs. LaRue Laris returned home Sunday from Belleville, Illinois, where she visited nearly two weeks with her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Allred. Mrs. Allred returned to Roosevelt to visit a month with her mother-in-law. Larry' will join her later. He is stationed in Illinois with the U. S. Air Force. IMPROVED IDEAS FOR LOCAL HOSPITAL Salt Lake' City visitors last week end were Mr. and Mrs Ray Summers Sum-mers and family. Mr. Summers spent Friday and .Saturday at the LDS Hospital getting get-ting ideas and suggestions for improvement im-provement of the Roosevelt Hospital Hos-pital and studying laboratory' techniques. Also spending some time at the hospital was Mrs. Ber-nice Ber-nice Kelbaugn, supervisor nurse of the local hospital. She observed procedures in the dietician and surgery departments. Mr. Summers stated that recently recent-ly the local hospital had purchased pur-chased a new electro photrometer for bio-chemistry, and also an electrocardiograph, a faculty of a heart station to determine heart conditions. |
