Show Red men close out Season at Springville play. Dave Carter came on th finish up the final three innings and held the Flyers i hitless. Only extra base hit in the game was a double by Gary nr Alger who bounced one over the fench for a two bagger. Four teams in Region Six will advance to the playoffs, going into this week's action only Pleasant Grove had clinched a tournament berth with the other three positions up for grabs with Spanish Fork, Timpview, Provo and Dixie battle it out for the other three postions. Cedar High School Red-men Red-men closed out the 1979 baseball season Wednesday afternoon as they traveled to northern Utah to take on the Red Devils of Springville High School. Both schools were out of the running to qualify for the Region Six playoffs and Coach Dave Jenson indicated in-dicated that he would go with many of his younger players who will be returning retur-ning for another season of play. Dave Carter was slated to get the starting call on t the mound. In action this past week the Junior Varisity -hosted the Dixie Flyers JV team and came up with a come from behind victory to capture a 5-4 victory. The Redmen were slow at the start and had a number of costly fielding errors to allow the Flyers to gain a 4-0 4-0 lead after five inning of play. The Redmen, limited to just eight hits in the contest by Williams of Dixie, pushed in a single run in the sixth frame and collected three of their hits and four of their runs in the bottom of the final frame to pick up the win. Ironically the tieing and winning runs came with the bases loaded and scored on an overthrow from the catcher back to the pitcher. Bryce Gubler was on the mound to start the game for the Redmen.
