Show Education Information Center at SUSC The out-of-school adult population in the Five County area will soon have easy access to information about training programs and education possibilities, made available to them through the establishment of an Education Information Center at Southern Utah State College. "SUSC was selected by the State Board of Regents to establish an Education Information Center for Region Five, which includes Beaver, Garfield, Iron.Kane and Washington countied," H. Ralph Starr, SUSC Director of Public Service, said. Through the federally funded program, five education information counselors, trained at SUSC, will work in communities in. the Five County area. The counselors-generally local school personnel-will have information about education opportunities available both locally and away from the area, as well as applications, financial' aid information, and . special information about each program. A hot-line phoine will be open between each outlying center and the central Education Information In-formation Center at SUSC. Additional information from state or other agencies can be obtained by SUSC and funnelled to the local center. "The program is geared to help out-of-school adults of all ages and will eventually include information on apprentice programs and other educational programs not related to state educational institutions," Starr said. The six centers are tentatively ten-tatively planned to open by June 1. |
