Show May 9, 1916 In Washington, the Senate passed a house bill granting', pensions for survivors of Indian Wars from 1865 to 1891. It was estimated it would increase the pension roll about $1,000,000 annually. All that remained was for Pres. Wilson to affix" his official signature in order to make the bill a law, which will confer a needed and welcome benefit upon thousands of b worthy veterans throughout the western empire, who made sacrifices and sustained losses and privations due to depredation of Indians and warfare. A number of these beneficiaries reside in Iron County. May 4, 1929 Iron County Notes Mrs. McNone Perry entertained the H. H. Club at her home. Ten members wre present and two special guests; Miss Laurel Decker and Mrs. Phoebe Day. Max R. Ward of Calif, purchased what was known as the Secrest farm, a couple miles from Kanarra. It was purchased from Owen Burt of Kanarra. The annual eighth grade reception dance was held in honor of the ninth grade and was the outstanding social . event of the season at the Junior High School. May 10, 1954 Mrs. Henry Leigh was hostess to the ladies of her club at a dessert luncheon followed by bridge. Mrs. James Hoyle and Mrs. Al Fisher were special guests.
