Show Master Plan survey underway As a part of the on-going development develop-ment of a master Plan for Cedar City between 100 and 150 residents of the community are being asked to participate par-ticipate in a questionnaire developed through the cooperative efforts of the City Council the city Planning Commission, community groups and Southern Utah State College Office of Public Service. Information collected by the questionnaire regarding the community's com-munity's interest and concerns for adequate planning.will "have a lot of impact compared to most surveys because it's going directly to the committe for their consideration," Ralph Starr, Director of SUSC Public Services said. A committe is currently involved in an intensive study program for development of recommendations for a Master Plan for Cedar City and for the eventual consideration by the City Council. The questionnaire has been prepared from data compiled by the Master Plan Study Committee and will be administered by representatives represen-tatives of the SUSC Public Opinion Class under the direction of Craig Jones. A sampling technique is being used in which between 100 and 150 residents will be contacted by telephone and asked to participate in the survey. A random selection will be made after eliminating businesses. Once a participant has been contacted con-tacted a student will deliver the questionnaire and arrange to pick it up. The questionnaire is 13 pages in length and is divided into six sections. They include: 1) How you view your town, 2) Some economic issues, 3) How you view services and facilities in the Cedar area, 4) Some questions on recreaton, 5) How you feel about housing and zoning in Cedar City, 6) Personal information. Those who will be asked to participate par-ticipate in the survey will be assured that ' the information will remain confidential. Specifically they will be asked not to sign the questionnaire. The objective of the project is to provie information for planning and program decision-making by the city and various community organizations in the future. The cross-section results of the extensive survey is expected to provide a "general feeling of the attitudes of residents of the com-i com-i munity and what is expected for the future." We hope that residents who are asked to participate will cooperate fully in order that the survey can be an effective tool in shaping the future of Cedar City. |
