SEVENTEEN teams are entered in the national basketball tournament tourna-ment which will open in Chicago Thursday. Among these, are the greatest aggregations of hoop stars in the country. Coach E. L-. K-oborts and his B. Y. U. team from Provo, together with Coach Kelson H. Norgren, are now on their way to the tourney, with the object in view of keeping the national na-tional basketball title in Utah for one more yefir. The B. Y. IT. squad includes Prestnn McDonald, Theodore Bailc, Ralph Eggertsen, Eg-gertsen, Crlen Simmons, Len Andrus, Devereaux Bowman, Frank Oberhans-lev Oberhans-lev and Howard Hales eight men in all. The people of Utah are hoping, and the students and citizens of Provo are confidently expecting, that they will duplicate du-plicate the foat of the University of Utah team of a year ago. Coach Norgren, -vho accompanies the squad, will act merely as an advisory coach and will help look after the men in Chicago, where he is well known on account of his athletic activities at the University of Chicago. It. is said that the entire student body of the Chicago "V" w-ns pulling for the Utah team lost year on account of Norgren and that the success of the quint w.i's largely duo to that fact. Norgren h.n had nothing noth-ing to do wdth the developing or perfecting per-fecting of the B. Y. U. team and will claim no share in any honor that the B. Y. U. style of ball may call forth. In Utah the Provo boys have set a remarkable record this year, an.I no doubt eastern critics will expect much of them in the big competition. A record rec-ord of eleven victories and not one defeat de-feat is something to be proud of, especially espe-cially when two of those victories were scored over the national champions. Following Fol-lowing is the B. Y. U. record for the season: B. Y. U., 44; West High, 25. B. Y. V.. fiO; Springville, 25. B. Y. U., 38; U. D. y. U., 111. B. Y. V., 51; Chicago Crescents, 0. B. Y.
