BBIGHAM CITY, March 10. Yesterday Yes-terday Mr. and Mrs. William Horsley, old-time residents of this city, celebrated the fiftieth anniversary an-niversary of their marriage. The r& ception was at the home of their son, W. C. Horsley, and upwards of fifty relatives participated in the festivities. The Horsleys are among the most prominent prom-inent residents 'of northern Utah, and have relatives all through the west. They are among the nioueers in the mercantile business in the city, and Mr. Horsley was for many years connected with the one-time popular Co-op store, founded in this city m tha early days. William Horsley is 74 yearB of age I and his jrood wife is 70. They were ; married m this city fifty years ago, leaving soon after to make their home in Perry, where Mr. Horsley was placed in "charge of a branch of the- Co-op : store. In 1870 Mr. Horsley was transferred trans-ferred to the Brigham store and as- ' sumed the management. A few years later he engaged in the mercantile business, busi-ness, in which he and his many sons are still engaged. Mr. Horsley has filled two missions to Great Britain, the first one being in '1884. The reunion held yesterday was one of the biggest family events held here ; in late years. j |
