Show STORMY SESli 15 HELD IBTHE SE1TE Question Is Raised Over Appointments, but All Finally Confirmed. After a stormy session, held behind closed doors, the senate last night confirmed con-firmed all appointments recommended by Governor Simon Bamberger March 6 and S. The question of confirming the appointments ap-pointments was brought up in open session and the question! of why the chief executive should chose an orncor of the Salt Lake & Ogden railroad as a member of the public utilities commission commis-sion threatened a stormy discussion. No sooner had the signs of a squall appeared than the press and all persons per-sons in the senate chamber except the members of the senate were invited to make themselves scarce. But privacy was somewhat obstructed because of the gallery, and the solons retired to the rooms" of the judiciary committee and locked the doors. A committee was appointed to wait on the governor and ascertain his reasons rea-sons for the selection of Warren Stout-nour Stout-nour as a member of the utilities commission. com-mission. Just what information the committee gained was not given to the public. But in tho discussion which continued the three Republican senators sena-tors are reported to have aligned themselves them-selves with the governor. The Republicans are reported to have taken the stand that the appointments were a matter which rested with the governor, whose duty it was to choose men in whom he had confidence and who were in sympathy with his policies. Thev expressed the opinion that it was his fight, and, as being the chief executive execu-tive of the state, they expected to support sup-port him to the full extent of their power. The rather unexpected attitude of the minority members chilled the heat of the battle and a few moments later the solons emerged from the committee room and announced that the senate would confirm all the appointments recommended by the chief executive. The appointments confirmed were: Members of the state board, of laud commissioners Christian Willardson of Ephraim, Richard Jones of Heber, Richard E. Davis of Brigham Citv, X. P. Ipson of Beaver and Arthur Kuhn of Ogden, each to serve for a term of two years. Members of the state water rights commission Mathonihah Thomas of Salt Lake, W. R. Wallace of Salt, Lake, W. D. Beers of Salt Lake, each to serve for a term of two years. Members of theboard of directors of the Utah State Fair association Samuel Sam-uel Weitz of Salt Lake City, H. W.
