Show PREPARING TO BUILD SEWER IMMEDIATELY Commissi oners Desire to Have System Finished Before Big Exposition Exposi-tion in 1919. Special to The Tribune. OGDEN, March. 10. To insure completion com-pletion of the improvement before the opening of the proposed railroad exposition expo-sition in 1919, the city commissioners are planning to take early action on the Third ward sewer system. The first step will be notice of intention to levy a special tax on all property in the northern part of the city to raise $200,-000, $200,-000, or approximately "one-half of .the total estimated cost of the improvement. improve-ment. As the project includes more than five miles of trunk sewer line to furnish fur-nish a new outlet for the entire sewage system of the city the commissioners and city engineer" propose that $200,-000 $200,-000 of the outlay be charged to the general fund. The citizens at a special spe-cial election to be called will be asked to vote a bond issue sufficient to cover one-half of the cost. Joseph M. Tracy, city engineer, is working on the detailed plans and specifications for the improvement and assures the commission that with an expenditure ex-penditure of approximately $400,000 he can provide a sewage system which will serve Ogden up to a population of 150,000. It is planned to remove the present main outlet from a point near Twenty-first street, about four and one-half one-half miles north and west on the Weber We-ber - river, thus eliminating insanitary conditions within the city. |
