Show sail pi Toil To-il B STREET Foiling a visit of inspection by the city commissioners, city attorney, city engineer and county attorney to Highland High-land park on Friday morning, it was decided de-cided to open up "a new street along the west line of Highland park, plat ( B, from Highland drive to Whitlock avenue. The new street will be a continuation con-tinuation of Elizabeth street and will be four rods in width and follow tho banks of the city canal. In order to open the 'new thoroughfare, thorough-fare, Kimball & Richards dedicated three lots to the city. While it is understood un-derstood that the city does not contemplate contem-plate any immediate improvements on the new street, yet it opens up some exceptionally fino property just east of the Country club grounds and golf links. The property is mostly located on the brow of the bill overlooking the vallev aud is already a beautiful natural natur-al park with many fine trees. Three of the improved streets in Highland park, Parkway, Warnock and 'Whitlock avenues, open up on the cross streets. At the foot of Warnock aveuue, on an unusually attractive site, J. Leo Fairbanks, Fair-banks, art instructor in the city schools, plans to build a beautiful homo in the near future. Other properties which will be immediately imme-diately benefited bv the new street will be that of Mrs. Phillips and the Kockwood estate, both of which will have ready access to paved Highland drive. During the visit of tho city commissioners commis-sioners to the Highland park district, it was learned that the city contemplates contem-plates further improvements on the small park at the Sugarhouse intersection. intersec-tion. Construction work on the new Highland High-land park ward chapel is being rushed and Bishop Stavner Richards expects it to be completed during the early spring. |
