Show EXCHANGE SEEKING 10 Till LIGHT Governing Board of Local Mart Adopts Resolution to the Point In linewith a policy of fairness to' the public the Salt Lake Stock and Mining exchange took action yesterday that is intended to, and undoubtedly ' will, prevent manipulation of the mar- ket to the extent that has recently been noted. M. P. Bra-ffet, president of the exchange, ex-change, yesterday dictated the following follow-ing self-explanatory statement, furnish- ! ing a copy to each of the daily papers of the city: The governing board of the Salt Lake Stock and Mining exchange adopted a resolution at a meeting held Saturday, authorizing and requesting re-questing mining companies to give publicity through the secretary of the exchange to such facts with reference to thoir properties as they may desire to have generaUy known. Official communications of mining companies will be read by, the secretary sec-retary during open sessions of the exchange. The purpose of this action ac-tion was to enable mining companies com-panies to meet and refute false and malicious statements circulated circulat-ed from time to time by malicious persons with a view of depressing certain stocks. In 6ome instances reports have been circulated that companies actually ac-tually in prosperous condition were contemplating the levying of assessments as-sessments and in other instances false reports have been circulated . that ore shipments have not yielded the cost of transportation and smelting charges. The result has been that many persons have been misled into selling meritorious stocks as they have not had ready means to ascertain the truthfulness of such statements or have not taken the trouble to make inquiry of the corporate officers of the companies whose stocks have been slandered. Brokers will be held to a strict accountability in all cases where they may be found to have wilfully wil-fully misrepresented such facts with a view of obtaining commis-I commis-I sions on business so induced. |
