Show Utah Cattlemen's Association meet honors Greg Snow The annual meeting and barbecue for the Uintah Cattlemen's Association was held August 16 at the Vernal Junior High School. Charles Gray, president, made a special presentation to Greg Snow honoring him for unusual courage. Rep. Gayle McKeachnie, guest speaker at the afternoon business meeting, explained new laws that will effect ranchers. Jack Brewer was awarded a new hat. The board of directors direc-tors are: Charles Gray, representing Ouray-Randlett area; A.C. Wilkerson, Mosby; Bud Harrison, Lapoint; Cody Jenkins, Taylor; Leland McNeill, Brush Creek; Maughan Colton, Forest, Diamond Mt.; Dorothy Peltier, Diamond; Dia-mond; Jon Hill, Hill Creek; Meril and Boyd Snow, Jensen and Blue Mountain. Dorothy Rasmussen, president of the Uintah Cow Belles, discussed the sale of caps promoting beef and a brand napkin, designed by Roy Freestone, which will be distributed to restaurants in this area. "The 'tongue in cheek' caps went like hotcakes," smiled Mrs. Rasmussen, "and we will have winter caps in hunter orange a little later. Check with us." At the barbecue that evening, Charles Gray introduced Alerik Myrin, Utah State Cattlemen's president who spoke briefly. Mr. Gray then introduced Highway Patrol Dispatcher Aaron Wilkins, now retired, who narrated a modern day story of personal courage displayed by a ten year old boy when his father was injured severly. "The call for help," said Wilkins, "on Dec. 15 of last year, was relayed to my office by Judd Answering Service. The boy, Greg Snow, reported that his father, Boyd Snow, had been injured badly at a well location in the Book Cliff area and that he was driving him in." "He was very coherant, very col-i col-i i i i 1 i 1 i i i ! 4 1 I i i lected," recalled Wilkinsv"He knew the location number and how to get back to the main road. He drove his father to the Geokinetics camp, which I had alerted. The Geokinetics truck was met just south of Ouray by the ambulance who transferred Mr. Snow to the Vernal hospital." Greg, accompanied by his father, was then presented with an engraved Buck knife from the Uintah Cattlemen's Cat-tlemen's Association by Mr. Gray. A program, emceed by Dorothy Peltier, introduced vocal selections by Ranee Searle; Cloyd Kump, Daun White, Dorothy Peltier; Julie Gardner and company; and Becky Allred's Flaming Flamettes, Gina Christensen and Jody Goodrich.
