Counfy Meadows Education Center to begin 7th year The Country Meadows Early Education Center will begin its seventh year of operation on Tuesday, Sept. 2, 1980. The school director for this year is Ora Fay Oviatt. A Vernal native, Mrs. Oviatt has been an educator in the Uintah Basin for 23 years. She received her BS degree from Utah State University in home economics and music in 1958. Mrs. Oviatt has taught music, English and home economics in the Uintah and Duchesne School Districts for six years. She was Utah State University's extension agent for two years in Uintah County. She began directing early children's programs in Vernal in 1969. She directed Vernal's Children's School and Vernal Early Education Center prior to opening Country Meadows Early Education Center. She received her MS degree in ; 1973 in early childhood education and educational administration from the University of Utah. Mrs. Oviatt is an active member of the Utah and National Association for the Education of Young Children, and a past member of the National Music Educators Assoc., and the National Association of Teachers of Singing. Mrs. Oviatt is married to Clark Oviatt and is the mother of four children. She will teach Country Meadows Suzuki Music Program and two days of the week in both morning and afternoon sessions of the first hand experience curriculum program. The Suzuki Music Program will provide group and private instruction in music theory, piano, violin and cello, for children ages 3-8 years old. Martha Ann Cooper will be returning to Country Meadows for her second year as a teacher in the afternoon session. Mrs. Cooper was born and reared in Raymond, Alberta, Canada. She graduated from BYU in 1973 with a major in home economics education. She taught elementary education in the resource department of Uintah School District prior to joining the Country Meadows staff last year. Mrs. Cooper is married to Kenneth Cooper and is the mother of two children. Jane Pierce will join the afternoon staff this year. Jane is from Sacramento, Calif. She graduated from BYU in 1973 with majors in early childhood education and education administration. Mrs. Pierce taught second grade at Ashley Elementary School and has been a private tutor for five years. She attended college in Hawaii for one year where she also taught nursery school. Mrs. Pierce is married to Blaine Pierce, a prominent local musician and artist. She is the mother of three boys. The afternoon session of Country Meadows runs from 1 to 3:30 daily. It is designed especially for the children who will enter kindergarten in 1981. Children may attend 2, 3, 4, or 5 days a week. The curriculum includes weekly units based on first hand experience, and daily activities in counting, color, reading, Spanish and music theory. Diagnostic testing for sight, speech, hearing and kindergarten readiness is available. for all children enrolled in this session. Parent orientation and fall semester registration for both morning and afternoon af-ternoon sessions will be held at the center on Thursday, Aug. 28. at 7:30 p.m. It is requested that children do not attend this meeting with their parents.
