At the onset of the program, it was determined by the Manpower Planning Committee that a bonus system should be used to award those workers who did an outstanding job. "It was felt that this was needed," said a member of the Manpower Planning Committee, "because of previous years when there was no incentive in-centive for a person to work harder, be on the job every day. and be on time. Valerie Harpole, Tammy Burns, Kly Bowthorpe, Kenneth Richens and; Aletha Stevens. j , The Summer Youth Employment Program is designed to provide work experience and training youth will need when they enter the labor market. - As a result of the incentive program, along with a greater effort to place young people on jobs, the committee felt that the Summer Youth Employment Em-ployment Program was very effective in providing training as well as jobs for those who participated.
