Show Harrison benefit rodeo slated for Sept. 1 What happens when a friend has some bad luck and you want to help out? You organize a rodeo and invite the town to have a good time, while it helps out. A short time ago, Doyle Harrison, who is well known for his skills in the blacksmith trade, was kicked by a horse. He went to the hospital and underwent surgery to repair his broken leg. The type of break will require Doyle to spend perhaps another three months in bed. That's three months without work and bills in the mailbox. Doyle Harrison has not only made a lot of friends as a blacksmith, but has influenced a lot of youth in the 4-H programs of the county for many years. The people he has helped can now return the favor. Monday night, Sept. 1, the fairgrounds in Vernal will feature the last rodeo of the season. The Doyle Harrison Benefit Rodeo will start at 7 p.m. and feature bareback, saddle bronc, bull riding, calf roping, team roping, barrel racing, pole bending, goat tying, sheep riding and chicken chase events. Entries close on Aug. 31, and contestants can sign up by calling 789-2298. Family tickets are S10. Adults $2.50 and children 6 to -12 years, $1. Senior Citizens over 65 are admitted free. Tickets are available at several businesses or at the gate. |
