Show Outdoor Recreation Agency funds sought for playgrounds Vernal City and several clubs in Vernal have set. a goal to equip two playgrounds in the city with some $35,000 in equipment according to Ken Fisher, Vernal City Planner. Fisher said the city has applied for 50 percent matching funds for the project from the Utah Outdoor Recreation Agency. Fisher said that the "Kommonettes have already donated $500 toward the project and the Vernal Lions Club has underwritten a fund-raising campaign to raise the rest of the 50 percent match. Fisher said other clubs also had showed an interest in helping raise the needed funds. Fisher referred to a study made by Vernal City asking water patrons what recreational projects they would fund if tax monies could be appropriated and the overwhelming favorite was equipping playgrounds. Playgrounds outpolled other projects 6 to 1. The city 'has planned for a $27,000 complex to be -placed-, at the Bicentennial Bicen-tennial pavilion playground near the high school and an $8,500 unit to be placed at the swimming pool playground. The city expects to hear the decision of the Utah Outdoor Recreation Agency concerning its application sometime this fall. ' |
