POCATELLO, IDA. f 4 POCATELLO, Idaho, Aug. 9. An event of importance in local societv circles during dur-ing the week was the marriage of H. J. Swanson, former police Judge, and Elsie Rutli Phoenix, which took place Thursday Thurs-day morning at their . new home, 415 North Johnson avenue. So quietlv were the plans for the event carried out that the announcement of the marriage came as a complete surprise to 'their many friends. The only guests present at the ceremony were Mr. and Mrs. William Phoenix and Frank Phoenix, . brothers of the bride. After a wedding breakfast was served, Mr. and Mr:. Swanson departed de-parted for a wedding journey, and will later be at home in their new home, which was completed just in time for the ceremony. The Rev. C. H. Cleaves of the Congregational church performed the ceremony, the ring service beinsr used. Another wedding of interest this week was that of Miss Christairla Hansen, daughter of Mr. and Mr.s. C. P. Hansen, to C. H. Sward, Wednesday morning at 9:20 o'clock at the Hansen home, 6-13 Harrison avenue. The bride's sister, Miss Mabel Hansen, acted as maid of honor and Jack Hoover was best man. The Rev. H. S. Hamilton read the ceremony. An informal reception was hold after the wedding and many friends of the bride and bridegroom called. The bride was attractively at-tractively costumed in a dark traveling gown. Mr. and Mrs. Sward left at noon for Salt Lake City. They will return to Pocatello on Sunday evening.
