Ten Xow York theaters were " dark ' ' tonight at the cud of the third day of the actors ' strike. To the nine which were closed last night was added this evening ihz Globe. Members of the Actor?' Equity association asso-ciation expressed confidence tonight that they would win. the written equiiv contracts embodying the dcmnr.ds tor which they went on strike. They professed pro-fessed not to be disheartened by the fact that, following the resignation last night of E. 11. iSothern, there were received tonight at eqnit y headquarters headquar-ters the resignations of Yillinm ("oilier, ("oi-lier, Jlolbrook Hlinn and Alan Kinc-hart. Kinc-hart. In tendering his resignation Mr. Collier said lie was ''very much averse to th action nf the Actors' Equity association as-sociation in closing up theaters by ordering or-dering a so-enlied strike.'" From the Producing Managers' Protective Pro-tective association t o night also came expressions of con fidence and report s that casts depleted by strikers were being satisfactorily recruited, ''despite the extraordinary lengths to which the Actors' Equity association has gone in the intimidation and coercion of its people. ' ' The managers' meeting today adopted adopt-ed a resolution offering financial aid to all 'Moval" actors - forced out of work by the strike. George M. Cohan, who has been forced to take. a part in his production, ' The Koval Vagabond. Vaga-bond. M tonight was ho?t at dinner to stagehands, musicians, chorus and principals prin-cipals who had stood by him in the strike. |
