Show PLOT TO BIN SCHOOL FAILS Neighbor Quenches Flames Before Damage Results; Incendiary Escapes. Special to The Tribune. OGDBN, Aug. 9. Under the very eyes of the armed guards of the police and sheriff departments of the city, the firebug fire-bug who has carried on his campaign of arson during the past three months made an attempt to destroy the Dee school at 10:20 o'clock tonight. But for the prompt action of John Doxoy, residing near the school, the plot would probably have been successful. As Doxey and bis wife and children were going into their home after at- 1 tending a picture show Doxey saw flames shoot up at the rear door of the school building. He ran Into his house, secured i a pail of water and extinguished the j fire. Mrs. Doxey notified the police, and Officers Of-ficers W. A. Taylor, E. Blglcr and W. Lowder responded. Upon Investigation they found a Jarge bunch of oily waste substance packed down at the bottom , of the door. The flame shot up about ! j four feet on the dour when Do:;cy ar- j rived with the pall of water. Girls playing near the school saw a ! man pass to the rear of the building a ' short time before the fire. Their de- seription tallies v. ith that of the firebug who ts known to have started the Hum- ; phreys fire and the ones at the macaroni ' factory and the old railroad freight depot occupied by the Ogden Junk house. j Tbe fire tonight was within five hun- ; drcd feet of the two big fires last Sun- j day night and within three blocks of j other fires in the induetrlal district. A J dragnet was thrown out for the arrest of suspects answ ering the description of . the firebug. The combination pumper and truck of ; the Fort Douglas department lent to Ogdcn by the federal government was j brought to Qgden tonight and added to the equipment of the Central f'.re sta- tlcn.
