Show Hayne applied through Mr. Basse tt of the A. G. Spalding company for an assignment as-signment in the recreation division of the Young Men's Christian association overseas over-seas service. He has had experience in public recreational work in New York City, has coached in track athletics and held the championship in high jump at the Michigan intercollegiate Athlctifc association associa-tion for five years. Coe Hayne, formerly pastor of the Burlington Bur-lington Baptist church, and recently secretary-treasurer of the Utah Baptist laymen's lay-men's association, leaves today for service ser-vice in France under appointment by the National War Work council of the International In-ternational YotlDg Men's Christian association. asso-ciation. Mr. Hayne did not seek deferred draft classification by reason of his being an ordained minister and was put 4w class 4. division A. He leaves in this city a wife and three children. He says he his ready to lay aside his Young Men's Christian association uniform when men in his class are needed for active service. Since resigning from his local pastorate Mr. Hayne has been devoting all of his time writing for eaiffern magazines. 2&r. |
