THE production of "Business Before Pleasure"' at the Salt Lake theater, the-ater, beginning tomorrow night for an engagement of three days, will arouse interest, not only because be-cause of the play's sensational &ueee5s at the Eltinge theater. New Tork, but because be-cause it will reintroduce in a new environment en-vironment the two most famous and interesting in-teresting characters on the American stage "Abe"' Potash and "Mawruss" Perlmutter, the erstwhile cloak and suit heroes of "Potash & Perlmutter" and "Potash & Perlmutter in Society." and now funnier and more human than ever as "fillum" magnates. "Business Before Pleasure" is the third of a series of comedies in which these two characters have been the centra! figures, fig-ures, and has exceeded in popularity even Its two predecessors. "Business Before. Pleasure-' is in three acts and four scenes, most of the action taking place in the office and protective room of the newly organized "Potash Perlmutter Film company." Not only are the sayings and bickerings of "Abe" and "Mawruss" excruciatingly funny, but the situations in which the two partners find themselves in their new business afford a source of continual merriment. MOST plays aimed against the dou-. dou-. ble Etandard of morality either bore with their preachiness or shock with their indecency. But in this week's offering by the Wilkes players, opening tonight, there is a treatment of the subject that i at once frank, complete and deeply impressive The play was written bv Hubert Hen'rv Davies. and first introduce with Ei-ie Perguson as the star. It shows how unjust un-just it is to place all the odium on the women who sin, letting the man go s-ot- free. The principal characters are Geoffrey the man; Valentine, the woman he love' and Miriam, the outcast Geoffrey takVs to drink and even to the. up of drugs and then Miriam comes into his life. Vthough the relationship they establish is "without benefit of clergy." it has n most ennobling en-nobling influence on them both. Then comes the crash. Geoffrey yields to temptation and seeks lightly to break off his relations with Miriam. U is at this point that the play takes on the' Iti-tenselv Iti-tenselv dramatic tone for v, hloh it is famous. Miss Nana Bryant. leading woman - , George Barnes. leading man, and the other Wilkes i, layers find in "OuUast" a magnificent vv'iir-le for their talent Tp piny op-os tonight and runs ail w-ei v lth matinees Thursday and Saturday.
