Thread, needles, pina, scissors, etc., are about twice as expensive here as in the states. The war seems to have no effect upoTi the social life here. There are endless teas, dinners, dances, etc I really get awfully tired of the same things over and over and wish we could eliminate a great deal of the artificial social life here, but I suppose it would be irksome irk-some if we had none of it.
