Show Food Controller to Put an End to Coal Wastes Designated Hours for Heating Heat-ing Certain Buildings Operative Op-erative January 15. THE state fuel administrator, for the purpose of further conserving conserv-ing coal and preventing needless waste, yesterday issued tbe following fol-lowing request, operative January 15, to owners and' operators of steam heat- t ing plants: In public buildings, stores, shops and business premises, steam shall be shut off at the boiler or main control valve ' at 6 o'clock p. m. and shall not be turned on earlier than 6 o'clock a. in. In hotels, clubs, rooming houses and apartment houses, theaters and moving '. picture theaters, steam shall be shut off not later than 0 o'clock p. m., and , shall not be turned on earlier than 6: o'clock a. m. I "In all cases, special attention is di- j rected to the maintenance of a rea- ! sonable and healthful temperature, not '. to exceed 70 degree fahrenheit. Own- i ers and tenants alike are urged to see j that excessive temperatures are prevent- j ed by proper regulation of radiators i and of ventilation. In the event that special circum- i stances in individual cases make it 1 necessary to use steam heat at other j hours, it is requested that special permit per-mit be applied for. The fuel administrator is confident ' that these regulations are practical and reasonable, and that they involve no : serious inconvenience or interference j with necessary business, and he ap- I peals earnestly to all concerned to I carry them out thoroughly and con- scientiously, that waste may be pre- ! vented and our coal supply properly j conserved. |
