Show MAXWELL SOLVES DELIVERY OF CARS Drive-Away of Fifty Passenger Autos in One String is Accomplished. Economical measures were recently adopted to supply the demand for trucks and passenger cars when the Maxwell company executed a novel drive-away of fifty trucks loaded with fifty passenger cars. The fifty loaded trucks were driven to Chicago, according accord-ing to Manager .J. B. Mjddleton of the Sun -Motor Sales company, local Maxwell Max-well distributors. Freight congestion was greatest just before Christmas, when it became necessary nec-essary to make a quick delivery in Chicago Chi-cago of fifty trucks aud fifty passenger passen-ger cars. Some plan had to be evolved immediately imme-diately and it was. Fifty sturdy Maxwell one-ton trucks were prepared with proper blockings to carry passenger passen-ger cars. By not allowing an empty truck to leave the great Oakland avenue plant the Maxwell company gave a splendid demonstration of now economy in transudation trans-udation may be accomplished. The overland truck train released a train of thirty freight cars for other transportation trans-portation services. Care was taken to provide against anv load-shifting and, after dark last ' Friday night, the trucks took up their trail to the Windy City. The train was piloted by Kay MoXamara, the famous Maxwell road engineer. A large portion por-tion of the drive was over snow and ice-covered roads. - I The last, lap of the truck train was j from Coldwater to Chicago in one day, a distance of 167 miles. The train j moved out of Coldwater in two sections j twenty-five trucks to a section. ' McNamara reports a remarkably sue- ; eessful trip, with some of the fifty drivers inexperienced. 1 |
