As a result of mistaken mis-taken identUy, John Tully and Albert Raithel of St. Louis, federal revenue akents, are In a hospital here tonight, suffering: from gunshot wounds received late today in a pistol fight with city detectives de-tectives in a house in which the officers suspected drugs were being sold and had 1 gone to raid. Members of each party thought the others the suspects they had gone to arrest. Both Tully .and Raithel were shot through the body and their wounds are dangerous, according to physicians. None of the deicctives were injured. More than sixty shots were exchanged and the mistake was not discovered until police reserves had responded to a riot call. Earlier in the day the police had ar- rested a man and a woman who admitted they had been trafficking- in drugs and who told the police they had a qnantity of narcotics stored at the house where the shooting took place. This afternoon the police took the two prisoners to the house. Meantime information had been received at the district attorney's office that drugs were stored at the place and Tully and Raithel were sent there. Neither the federal officers nor the detectives de-tectives are clear as to which party arrived ar-rived fh'st or who fired the first shot. When reserves arrived they found Tully and Raithel lying on the floor, wounded. The detectives were barricaded behind piles of furniture and, although they had a number of bullet holes in their clothing, cloth-ing, none was injured.
