Show OLD RECORDS STAND . FOR HARNESS TRUCK New Marks Are Mostly for Youngsters and for Heats and Classes. S There seems to be no limit to trotting and pacing records when it comes to work on the turf. It is evident, however, how-ever, that the trotter and pacer have reached about the limit in the matter of speed for the mile, that is, the fastest mile trotted or paced by horses of all ages. In this respect Dan Patch, with . his record of 1:35, seems to be about the fastest thing in the pacing line ever known, while Uhlan 'b record of 1:54 V. in trotting, made in 1913, has not been V approached. The records that were '""' established in 1917 are mostly among the younger trotters and . pacers. The Real Lady has set a new world's ' rocord for 3-year-olds in trotting, at 2:03 flat. The record was formerly held by Peter Volo and Miss Bertha Dillon. Lou Princeton has been another an-other record breaker during the year, while Bertha Dillon and Nella Dillon have gone in remarkable fast time. Early Dreams is another trotter which has done remarkably well; also St. Frisco. Early Dreams was probably one of the most sensational performers during the entire season and is credited with winning for her owner about $25,- 000 or $30,000. Lucile Spiers was a wonderful performer per-former among the pacers as was also Axtien.'a young stallion, and Eon Hal, a gelding. Harry J. S., a trotting stallion, per- formed in remarkable fashion over the half-mile tracks. Marconi lowered the record for five miles by pacing the distance in 12:02, thereby breaking a record made in 1874. There were other records, such as the breaking of marks for three, four, five and six-heat races. In the running line, Hourless set a new mark for the track at Laurel, Md., when he stepped a mile and a. quarter in 2:02. The record breaking performances for the vear were as follows: At'SaRlnaw, Mich.. July 4, ISIS Lucile Spiers (flllyo parorl one mile on a half-mile half-mile track in 2:03 '4. a new record.
