( ireen is said to have rot ued to assure Commissioner-elect Alli'-rt rah be of his vote fur Mr. ( rabbe's assignment to the department de-partment of streets and public improvements. improve-ments. This raises the question as to whether Mi1. rabbe will be able to command enough votes to secure the department de-partment for which he has contended. Whatever the displumacy that may be practiced before the final reorganization reorgani-zation comes, there are several things that are sure to occur at that time, unless un-less alj the tentative agreements and dans should be upset. Should the placing plac-ing of Commissioner Karl A. iScheid in the public safety department continue to be the determination of the majority, tho order of reorganization will be as before, in constitutional order, ue finance fi-nance department coming first. The carrying through of the tentatively tenta-tively determined slate would then result re-sult in Mayor Perry's being voted into finance first of all. Commissioner Crabbe 's name will come first on the roll call, which is in alphabetical order. His vote might determine the situation with regard to the agitating question of the entire problem, the removal of Mayor Ferry from the department of public safety. Should some one other than Commissioner Commis-sioner Scheid be determined upon as successor to the mayor in tho public, safety department, the order of making assignments might or might, not be ehancd. Commissioner Scheid has expressed ex-pressed a preference to renin in in the rinanee department. Should Mr. Crabbe not vote for the mayor in that position, Mr. Scheid might succeed in realizing that preference. This might or might not balk the plan to remove the mayor from the public safety department. Tn any event, it would determine that some one else than the present commissioner of finance would have to be the man to replace the mayor in public safety. Whatever the order of procedure, the only thing that can prevent transposition transposi-tion of Mayor Ferry and Commissioner Scheid would be a" breaking down of either the determination of Commissioner Commis-sioner Green or Commi8sioDer:elect C. Clarence Neslen not to vote for himself him-self for the public safety berth, or the commanding of three votes to put one of the two there in spite of disinclination, disinclina-tion, as is the plan with regard to Commissioner Com-missioner Scheid. |
