Show COAL CONDITIONS IN THE NORTHWEST WASHINGTON, Jan. 5. Coal conditions condi-tions in the northwestern states were outlined to the senate investigating committee today by Stanley B. Houck of Minneapolis, representing dealers in seven states. The shortage there was due, he said, to price fixing by the fuel administration and to admonitions to householders last spring not to buy until fall on a prediction of lower costs after government prices were fixed, Mr. Houck told the committee that he had. been informed that the fuel administration ad-ministration shortly was to issue an order diverting Illinois coal, generally used in the northwest, to another section. sec-tion. This, he said, would compel northwestern consumers to use oal already al-ready on the docks from Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Ohio and which costs more. |
