THIEVES MAKE BIG HAUL Ml HAVEN Registered Mail Pouch Containing Con-taining $30,000 in Securities Securi-ties Taken. By International News Service. NEW HAVEN, Conn., Jan. . A registered reg-istered mail pouch containing, it is said, 30,000 in negotiable securities and coupons, cou-pons, disappeared from the New Haven postoffice last Sunday, it became known tonight. The theft is a mystery. The authorities au-thorities refuse to dist-us.s The incident. It ia known several suspects are under surveillance, but no arrests have yet been made. The pouch had been sent from Boston. According to the story of the theft, the pouch disappeared in a mysterious manner. man-ner. A clerk had turned to a locker for the key to a receptacle under which registered reg-istered parcels arc placed. His back was turned for tho fraction of a minute. When he went to get the pouch it was gone. Five men. all old, trusted employees, wero near the pouch. They agree no one had let the place. None had seen any other person near where the package had been. The pouch contained securities and two small diamond rlnss. The securities were being .sent by Boston banks to other Institutions. In-stitutions. Through the Boston bank a list of the securities was obtainable and telegrams were dispatched last Monday to stop payment on them.
