Show GERMAN SUSPEGTED OF SPYJPERATI0N3 i Case of George Dresel, Arrested Ar-rested at Ogden, to Be Investigated. Special to The Tribune. OGDEX, Jan. 5. Despite the fact that the man says he has been arrested several times and his case thoroughly investigated by the authorities, the local police are inclined to believe that considerable con-siderable importance may attach to the arrest of George Dresel, 2-1 years of age, a German, who says he is a sailor by occupation. The young German was taken into custody ' on Twenty-firth street this evening by Detective A. B. Jensen as a suspected draft evader. Dresel 's pockets yielded a variety of letters, books and correspondence which may give the federal authorities more information as lo his suspected spy , operations. The young man says he left Germany in dctober. 1013, but an inspection card found in his effects shows that he must have been in Bremen, Bre-men, Germany, last year. There were also a number of drawings or sketches, which rlo not mean much of anything, according lo Dresel 's explanation. What is considered by the police to be the most important article among his effects is a book containing the names and addiesscs of more than a score of Germans living throughout the United States. Amoug the cities mentioned men-tioned in the list are New York, Chicago Chi-cago and San Francisco. Although good-natured about his arrest, the young German says he should not be subjected to continual investigation because be-cause ho happened to be born in German Ger-man v. ile is locked in the city jail pending instructions from the federal authorities. |
