Show SPI IS MENACED BY REVOLUTIONISTS Government Takes Quick Action Following Discovery Discov-ery of Plots. MADRID, Jan. 5. It is officially announced that Spain is tranquil everywhere. The number of noncommissioned non-commissioned officers removed from the army, because of their activities in forming "juntas of defense," de-fense," has reached 1500. MADB1D, Jan. 4 (Friday) (By the Associated Press). This morning's newspapers appeared with editorials expressing great perturbation because of the council of the ministers, which was held unexpectedly yesterday (Thursday) evening. The newspapers assert that the council was made necessary neces-sary bv the military reunions of a revolutionary revo-lutionary character that have been held recently bv the corporals, brigade sergeants ser-geants 'and non-commissioned officers of the different branches of the army. The press asserts that these minor officers are attempting to establish "juntas of. defense" similar to those formed by the chiefs and high officers of the army. The government has issued an order that all branches of the army shall remain in barracks and also has discontinued dis-continued telegraphic and telephonic communication and taken other important impor-tant precautionary measures, such as dissolving the parliament. The news of the revolutionary movement has caused a great sensation and public opinion appears to be with the king and the government. Several Eopular manifestations of loyalty have een made within the last few days, and the chief of the conservatives has visited the president of the council, o offer his support. Minister of War Cierva has issued an official explanation of the movement, move-ment, in which he said that the army classes composed of non-commissioned officers, corporals and sergeants proposed pro-posed to unite into a junta against the desires of their chiefs and that of the' minister -of war. , Informing associations of defense, the newspapers point out. the subordinate officers merely are following the precedent prece-dent established by their chief officers, who have held secret meeteings and ei- : changed cipher messages. !
