Show FEDERAL DRUG LI BEGOMESjEFFECTIVE After Tomorrow All Dealers in Narcotics Must Be Registered. Beginning tomorrow, the new federal drug law becomes effective. It is summarized sum-marized as an act to provide for the registration with internal revenue collectors, col-lectors, and fpr imposing a special tax upon all persons who produce, import, manufacture, compound, deal in, dis-j dis-j penue, sell, distribute or give away ! opium or coca leaves, their salts, derivations de-rivations or preparations. Persons required to register under the provisions of the law are also required to pay a special tax at the rate of $1 per annum. Employees of registered persons, however, do not have to be registered. This is true also of all federal, fed-eral, state, county and municipal agents jwho have occasion to purchase the drugs referred to in the regular course !of their duties. Physicians and dentists are required to keep a record of administrations ad-ministrations of the drugs mentioned to any patients. Like records are required of all druggists or other dispensers of the drugs. No sale may be made by oven a registered dispenser unless requisition is made by the purchaser upon a form pro- i vided by the government, the order to ' bo tiled away by tho dispenser and pre- ; served for two years, subject at all times to the inspection of tue internal i revenue otlicer. Forms for euch requisitions requi-sitions may not be sold, according to the provisions of the law, to others than regularly registered persons, and must be paid for at once at a rate not to exceed ex-ceed more than $1 a hundred.
