The ( Austrian advance in eastern Galicia has been checked and the Russians, driving back their opponents, have recaptured Stanislau and Kolomea, says the Even ing News, iu a telegram from Hertza, Eumania. Heavy fighting preceded tho recapture recap-ture of'these two towns. Tho Kussians occupied Stanislau yesterday. Advancing Ad-vancing in force from "that point, they attacked the Austrian position at Kolomea. Ko-lomea. The Austrians offered determined deter-mined resistance, but, the Evening News says, were forced to give way. Although it has been reported unofficially- that the Austrians had captured Stanislau, as is indicated by the foregoing, fore-going, no such admission has been made by the Russian war office. StanislaUj situated seventy-five miles southeast ot Leruberg, is a pivotal point in the .campaign .cam-paign of the Austrians to recapture the province of Galicia.
