Show j "Thrice Armed" for "Traviata" Production Yfaien the University of Utah Music society produces Verdi's "La Traviata on March 20-27, it will be in very truth "thrire armed." Through tbe energy and persistence of Professor Thomas Giles, head of the department of music, there are now two complete sets of music of the great opera on hand for the use of the students and their "aides" that are of greatest advantage. Heavy expense and the use of the wireless brought small results for many weeks, but only a few davs ago tlie scores arrived fresh from New York, intrusted to the care of Mr. Giles, through special arrangement. These scores are the manuscripts used in the production of the opera at the Metropolitan Metropoli-tan opera house la st October, and are marked by the eminent conductor Tos-canin!, Tos-canin!, according to his personal interpretation inter-pretation of the master composer's ideals. Excellent progress is being made in the preparatory work, and there is very evidence evi-dence to believe that the production will reflect credit upon both the state and the talent engaged. |
