Show Local volunteers attend Utah Hunter Education Academy Clair Davis, Shirley L. Barney and Lloyd Mecham, all of Vernal were among the 45 hunter education volunteers instructors who attended the first Utah Hunter Education Academy. The academy, held at Camp Williams, Nov. 9-16, provided the state's volunteer hunter education instructors with an opportunity to meet and to learn new instructional techniques in hunter education. The academy was cosponsored by the National Rifle Association and the North American Association of Hunter Safety Coordinators. Davis was sponsored at the academv by the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources. Meacham was sponsored by the Vernal Rod and Gun Club and Barney was sponsored by the Vernal Lions Club and Rotary Club of Vernal. The hunter education academy program is designed to provide continuing con-tinuing education, both for professionals and for volunteers, in the states and Canadian provinces which have hunter education. NRA and' NAAHSC hope the academies, which are to be held throughout the nation, will help improve the content and the teaching of hunter education programs. |
