THE HAROLD ANDERSON home at 494 West 350 South was selected as the best decorated home in the southwest portion of Vernal. 1 - III H . Mr. and Mrs. Buddy Sulser's home at 2093 North 3250 West was judged by the Chamber. Homes picked for best Christ mos decor The multi-lighted home of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Griffin, 915 North Vernal Ave., was judged as the sweeDstakes winner in the 1980 Christmas Home Decorating contest sponsored by the Vernal Chamber of Commerce. The Griffin home was the sweepstakes winner in 1977, but was not eligible again until this year. Sectional winners were southeast, Betty Hart, 170 East 550 South; southwest, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Anderson, Ander-son, 494 West 350 South; and northwest, Mr. and Mrs. Buddy Sulser, 2093 North 3250 West. There was not a winner in the northeast section. The judges listed a number of honorable mentions to homes that had outstanding qualities making it difficult for the judges to single out a winner in each section. Honorable mentions were Phil Timothy, 143 South 850 West; Rex and Brenda Jorgensen, 50 South 1154 West; Ray and Barbara Taylor, 148 West 500 South; Vernon Merkley, 702 West 500 North; Claude Roop, 2750 West 1000 South; Mr. and Mrs. Cal Billings, 87 East 1035 South; Elmer Don Gardiner, Gar-diner, 2792 West 1200 North; Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Cooper, 1109 West 500 South; Mr. .and Mrs. Jay Simper, 490 West 500 South; William Mayberry, 590 South 200 East; Jesse York, 550 South 1500 West; Charles Woodward, 3031 West 500 North; Mr. and Mrs. Roland Hein, 888 North 500 West; Mr. and Mrs. Ercil Oaks, 331 East 200 South; Glenn Stephenson, 160 North 500 West; Elmer Casada, 218 East 200 North; Elmer Thompson, 2367 East 200 North; Glade Sowards, 380 West 100 South; Thelma Wright, 395 South 500 West; Anthony Wright 666 West 300 North; William Holfeltz, 2730 West 1000 South; and Bill Gibson, 318 North 850 West. Judges noted that some of the honorable mentions were winners in the past two years, and consequently were not eligible to win this year. The contest is sponsored annually by the Chamber of Commerce Civic Betterment Bet-terment Committee. The winners will be hosted at a Tuesday Chamber luncheon lun-cheon where they will received a plaque denoting their achievement. |
