Powell-Quinto unite in marriage Kathy Jo Powell, daughter of Nita and Kelly Powell of Jensen, was united in marriage to Jose Orontes Quinto, son of Maria Otillia and Jose Orlando Quinto on Nov. 21, 1980. Kathy and Jose exchanged their wedding vows in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Out of town guests attending the wedding were Roberto Monge and Javier Linarte. There were guests from Jensen, Vernal, and Sandy also at the ceremony. A wedding reception was held for the couple at the Jensen cultural hall, Nov. 22. Kathy Jo's wedding dress was a full length gown of white satin with chantilly lace overlay. The bride wore a white lace and nylon trim hat. There was a full length train of lace connected to the top shoulders of her dress. Kathy Jo carried white carnations with blue roses as her bridal bouquet. The groom's sister, Zorida Linarte, and the bride's sisters, Diane Morton, KaLynn Sheffer, Carma Werner and Shelly and Vicky Powell were attendants. They wore blue and yellow street length dresses with a blue and yellow carnation as their bouquet. The dresses were designed and made by Nita Powell. The bride's mother wore a street length blue dress with a corsage of blue carnations. Jose chose as his bestman Joaquin Herrera. He wore a dark blue dress suit with a yellow carnation. The groom wore a light blue suit, dark blue shirt and a red and light blue knotted tie. Decorating for the wedding were the family of the bride and Kathleen Anderson. The color scheme was carried out in blue and yellow. Duane and David Powell and Darrell Lewis were the reception greeters and gift bearers. Kathleen Andreason was in charge of the guest book. Marilyn Anderson and Rhonda Jones were in the gift room and serving was done by Nikell Powell, Barbara and Michelle Lewis, and Suzanne Slaugh. Bonnie Moon, Audrey Buckley, Thebe Moon, Linda Parent and Julie Rains assisted in the kitchen. Kathy Jo and Jose had a double language wedding. The ceremony was given in English and in Spanish. During the reception, Javier Linarte was master of ceremonies in the Spanish language and Roberto Monge presided over the English speaking reception program. A dance was performed by Suzanne Slaugh. Accordian music was provided by Hy Slaugh. There was a reading by Toby Johnson and Guillerno Acuna. Jose Quinto, the groom, sang a love song to his new bride. Dancing and music after the wedding was furnished by Joaquin Herrera, Mario Herrera and Guillerno Acuna. The wedding cake was baked and decorated by Gertrude Turner. The cake was an earth life theme with a stairway leading to eternity. A personal shower was given for the bride by Shelly and Vicky Powell. The wedding trip was taken in the Vernal area. The bride's going away outfit was a silver dress with maroon trim. Kathy and Jose will make their home in Maeser. |
