Show V: by Corey W. Grua , Public Info. Chairman, CUintah Co. Unit Amer. Cancer Soc-r Resident benefits from cancer test QUESTION: Has anyone in Vernal benefited from the recent ACS colorectal screening tests? ANSWER: We are please to say that someone here has benefited. Anna Oldham, our unit president, reported this interesting story about one Vernal resident who picked up the last test kit from a local drug store. She sent in the sample and received a positive result. Quickly, surgery was arranged and a tumor was discovered in the rectal area. It was removed and tests were conducted to determine if the cancer has spread. It hadn't. Today, just a week later, she is free of a cancer that probably would have taken her life had it not been discovered in time. We, of the local ACS unit, are proud to have taken part in a program financed by your dollars that have been given to fight cancer. Here is an example of their success! FOOTNOTE: The Uintah Unit sponsored spon-sored our first Christmas Fantasy program last Thursday. There were over a dozen ACS volunteers that worked under the direction of Mrs. Kathy Davies to bring this special event to Vernal. Our thanks to Kathy and her various helpers that made such a nice night for those of us who attended. at-tended. People make the American Cancer Society work.
