J IRAS WHITE-SCHWOBE Services honor Uintah Basin teacher Iras White Schwobe, 78, of Vernal died in a Salt Lake City nursing home Dec. 8, 1980. Born Dec. 11, 1901 in Vernal to Ward P. and Lillian Britt White. Married Lester G. Schwobe Sept. .5, 1945 in Golden. Colo. She was a school teacher for 35 years in Uintah County and member of the St. James Catholic Church. She graduated from Utah State Agricultural College, now Utah State University. A member of the American Legion Auxiliary Witbeck Unit 11. She served as president as well as chairman chair-man of numerous committees. Member of the Vernal Business and Professional , Women's Club, serving two terms as president as well as other offices and chairmanships. Served on Red Cross committees during World War II. Served on the Uintah County Teachers Association in executive positions. Funeral services were Friday, Dec. 12 at the St. James Catholic Church. She was buried in Maeser Fairview Cemetery. Pallbearers were David A. Schwobe, son; Auston White, brother; Amos Merkley; Francis Lenox; Lynn Dudley ; and Tom Herbert. Survivors are husband of Vernal; son, David H. of Salt Lake City; three grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Auston and Edna White of Vernal . and a sister, Mrs. Preston (Norma) Hale, of RenovN,ev. ... |
