Show COTTLE illM Confronted with the greatest shortage of small cottages in the history of the city, hundreds of Salt Lake people are planning to start home building at once, according to a member of, the firm of Kimball & Richards. "Land Merchants." While there continues to be an active trade in houses already built, the demand for at least 1500 new homes Is steadily increasing every week. The shortage of homes in Salt Lake is merely an indication of similar conditions condi-tions throughout the United States, Mr. Kimball says. At least 600,000 new homes must be built to supply the national demand, de-mand, it Is estimated. In connection with the present active home building campaign, the sale of good building lots and homesites also has taken a jump. The tendency is for a very active real estate market during i 1919 and 1020, and with tho increasing! demand also has come an increasing ! price in many of the better residence j sections. As yet the pre-war prices of I building lots PtlU hold good, but before ! midsummer this condition is likely to change. Mr. Kimball" points to this fact! as the very best reason why now is the time to buy real estate It is very cer- I ta in, he thinks, that orices will never : be so low again in building lots, particu- : larly as for some years past it has been j generally known that Salt Lake values were greatly und-'-r the prevailing prices j throughout the country. I Kimball k Richards report very active trade in building lots at Gilmer park, Highland 'park and in big garden lots and half acres at Federal Acrea, Liberty Acres, JToniffield Acres and other subdivisions subdi-visions which they have developed. |
