May 20 oil transport with cargo of American heroes. i SALT LAKER MIKES II HPS TO EUROPE Captain Robert Morris, son of Mrs. Edith N. Morris, 23 West North Temple Tem-ple street, is in command of tho U. S. 9. Sibony, a transport with forty-five officers of-ficers and 430 men in its crew and having hav-ing accommodations for 3500 soldiers, and has made eighteen trips to Europe Eu-rope during the last two years. He has experienced five attaeks by enemy submarines and was an evewitness to the sinking of the U. S. S. Covington. His ship will arrive in New lork May 20 with another cargo of returning return-ing heroes, including detachments of the Sixty-fifth and 130th infantries, the 123rd machine gun battalion, clothing cloth-ing and bath unit 330, 324th field artillery ar-tillery and several casual companies. Brigadier General Edward L. King, commanding officer of the Sixty-fifth brigade, is among tho passengers. Captain Morris was graduated from the naval aeademv at Annapolis in 1902. When tho United States entered the war he was executive officer on tho V. S. S. Mount Vernon. Later he was transferred to the Lenape, and in tho summer of 1917 was raised to the rank of captain and assigned to the Sibony. His ship makes the round trip between Brest and New York in twenty-five days, counting time spent in port at both harbors. |
