Marshal Foi'h found the American artnv of occupation executing plans which will leave three divisions on the Rhine on June 1. when the Germans are expected ex-pected to come to u decision whether or not thev will sign the peace treaty. It is well known that the marshal favored tho retention of a much larger American Ameri-can iirmv of occupation, and that he believed" that the American troops should share in the long occupation of the Ehineland called for in the peace terms. However, General Pershing expects ex-pects to got all the American troops out of Germanv bv August. No official statement has been made as to -Marshal Foch 's visit to the Rhine except the statement that it is unofficial. unoffi-cial. However, the Paris papers carry the annouuecment that the marshal has ' ' gone to the front."
