Show VISCOUNT UCHIDA DEPLORES CONDUCT OF NATION EDITORS TOKIO, May 17. (By the Associated Press.) Viscount Uchida, the Japanese foreign minister, gave out the following follow-ing statement today: "The recent development of the international in-ternational situation has given rise to numerous diplomatic questions of great moment, tho satisfactory settlement of which can only be arrived at in an atmosphere at-mosphere of good will and mutual confidence con-fidence among the powers concerned. "J.Iy attention has recently been called to certain articles in the press, both at home and abroad, which, viewed in this light, are much to be regretted. Grave charges, for instance, have from time to time boon made in some of the Japanese papers against the attitude of I friendly nations in China, Siberia or Korea, without any evidence in support sup-port of those allegations and without regard to the serious consequences which may follow from them, comprising compris-ing the position of this eountrj'. " |
