Show CHILD WELFARE IS SUBJECT OF TALK The Social Service society held its regular monthly meeting last night at the Civic Center on Regent street. Miss Gertrude Vaile, associate director for the mountain division of the home service section of the Red Cross, gave an Instructive talk on public administration of social welfare. She related the historical his-torical change in democracy from laisffez faire industrialism toward a state of social so-cial co-operation In our modern life, and dealt with the growth of public responsibility responsi-bility In place of bur former indifferent individualism. Specifically, she treated of the problems prob-lems of child welfare, mothers' pension administration, health clinics, social insurance, in-surance, etc. In conclusion, she made a strong plea for social interest in our after-war reconstruction re-construction of social needs. |
