Show ARREST OF SOLDIER TO BE INVESTIGATED Special to The Tribune. TWIN FALLS, Ida., ilay 17. An investigation in-vestigation into the causes leading to the arrest recently, on a charge of draft evasion, of Jesse E. Simpson of Buhl, who enlisted in June, 1917, in Salt Lake, and served eight months iu France, was ordered by the Twin Falls Service Hen 's association at a meeting meet-ing here today. A committee composed of Captain P. W. MeRoberts, Captain E. 11. Sweeley and Lieutenant W. K. Green was named to make the investigation. Simpson was arrested on instructions of P. H. Merriman, agent of the department of justice at Boise. He was released by order of Adjutant General Wilson after twelve hours' confinement. He had his honorable discharge showing his service record in his possession. Tho association endorsed the plan of the American Legion as reported by Lieutenant John S. Green, delegate to the St. Louis caucus, and will be represented rep-resented with delegates to the state caucus in Boise about June 25. Plans for a smoker with boxing events to be held here Friday evening were made. |
